BalanceME
BalanceME Pilates is a boutique home studio, providing private and semi-private lessons. It is equipped with high-quality Pilates equipment: a Reformer, Combo Chair and Tower. Our studio is an intimate space that will help you to work your body and mind with an exercise programme designed specifically for your goals and needs, focusing on building muscular strength and control, improving alignment and posture, flexibility, coordination and balance.
We also offer lessons in the comfort of your own home, and can bring props and small equipment to enhance the lesson.
We are experienced in Pre and Postnatal Pilates, working with mums-to-be to prepare their bodies and minds for birth and the physical challenges of early motherhood. We also work with new mums, helping them to recover from pregnancy and birth, strengthening their bodies and allowing them time to focus on themselves.
Pilates is proved to be an excellent tool for rehabilitation after injuries, operations or due to sport practice. At BalanceME we work closely with our clients on their rehabilitation process, taking every necessary step to progress towards a full recovery.
PILATES
Pilates is a method of exercise that combines flexibility, muscular strength, postural alignment, breathing techniques and mental control. It is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, as exercises can be adapted accordingly.
The method, developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century, focuses on the principles of breath, concentration, centring, control, precision and flow. Joseph Pilates believed in a whole-body system – integrating body, mind and spirit.
Pilates can be done on a mat or with specifically designed equipment, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair or the Ladder Barrel. Depending on the client’s needs, the equipment can provide resistance or support by using a system of pulleys and springs, straps and handles.
Laura Ramazzina
Founder & Teacher
Growing up as a very sporty child, Laura suffered with knee pain throughout her adolescence. In her early 20s she discovered Pilates as a whole new way of thinking about her body. Gradually Pilates became a hobby and a passion. After starting a family, Laura struggled with the incompatibility of long work hours and motherhood. She left her career in advertising to look after her kids.
Moving to London, and with the kids growing up, she decided to transform her passion into a new profession, and completed the 2-year Pilates Foundation Comprehensive Teacher Training with Anne-Marie Zulkahari. A back injury followed by an operation gave Laura a first-hand insight into how debilitating back pain can be. This experience also showed her how Pilates can re-educate and rehabilitate the body.
Laura has worked with a range of clients with several conditions such as lower back pain, spinal and disc issues, osteoporosis, knee pain, and also pregnant and postnatal women.
Laura’s teaching aims to help clients to improve their body awareness, alignment and wellbeing. She believes Pilates is for all and loves to watch her clients progress, session after session.
